What is "Progressive Irrelevant Publishing"?

- Why Progressive? -

I believe in the continual sanctification of one who is in Christ. Progress is putting off the old man, and putting on the new man. So I know that I will continue to mature in Christ, having my mind and heart in a perpetual renewing state. As this process takes place I will continue to progress (with fluctuating ebbs and flows) in my thoughts, words and deeds. That would include even this stupid blog! (*Qualification: “By the grace of God” – For those of you who are not aware that all progress is by the grace of God, and would upon presupposition try to pick up a debate with me on said point.)

Be encouraged by what the Larger Catechism (based upon the Scripture) has to say about Sanctification.

Q. 75. What is sanctification?
A.
Sanctification is a work of God’s grace, whereby they whom God hath, before the foundation of the world, chosen to be holy, are in time, through the powerful operation of his Spirit[314] applying the death and resurrection of Christ unto them,[315] renewed in their whole man after the image of God;[316] having the seeds of repentance unto life, and all other saving graces, put into their hearts,[317] and those graces so stirred up, increased, and strengthened,[318] as that they more and more die unto sin, and rise unto newness of life.[319]

[314] Ephesians 1:4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. 1 Corinthians 6:11. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 2 Thessalonians 2:13. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

[315] Romans 6:4-6. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

[316] Ephesians 4:23-24. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

[317] Acts 11:18. When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. 1 John 3:9. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

[318] Jude 20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Hebrews 6:11-12. And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Ephesians 3:16-19. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Colossians 1:10-11. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.

[319] Romans 6:4, 6, 14. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.... Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin..... For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Galatians 5:24. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

- Why Irrelevant? -

Irrelevant: Having no bearing on or connection with the subject at issue.

Truth is, I’m not sure what the “subject at issue” really is. I mean what is it supposed to be? I have 2 other blogs, one for theological essays and thoughts I post, and the other to post links to good books. But this one has no “subject at issue". So I guess it will be continually irrelevant.

I wanted to use the word “insignificant” because I think it fascinating that I get to put my own presence in the seemingly unlimited expanse that contains an innumerable amount of information. What I write here will be like one of the drops that splash from a rain drop that collides into the ocean. It won’t be nonsensical, possibly trivial, and probably tedious at times, but given the context, (and the numbers I’m up against) who is Shawn Anderson? and who cares if he blogs? Well, I’m glad you do.

- Why Publishing? –

Well obviously I mean it in the writing/distribution sense.

Publish: To make known to another or to bring to the public attention; announce

So I’m basically making known to a select few others about my progress in Christ. Huh… looks like I have a “Subject at issue”. … Oh, and I will be posting stuff not related to that as well. … This blog thing could be fun!

Is this really necessary?

So... *sigh

I've tried my hand at these Blog things in the past. I never keep it up. I have too many other things to do, like live. But... I have fallen into peer pressure. I'm not making any promises or commitments, or resolutions or covenants or oaths or vows regarding my activity here... I should have put that in small print. oops.

Like anything else I'm sure I will put time into it at the beginning yet slowly be pulled away into other short term endeavors... I love the internet!

Well "see" ya around.
